Running….Walking…Running

I am staying with a friend this summer who runs. I am working out with a personal trainer. I am trying to stay on a mostly raw food diet. I got to Atlanta and hit the ground running. I love it all. Just got back from a run. I did better than I ever have in the past. I think the gym and the diet are huge contributors. And I am glad, because the next few hours of my life are going to be insane. Tonight I play kit for our last review of Hedwig and the Angry Inch. I get in a car and drive to Nashville. I speak at the Idea Center at the NAMM show at 10:30AM. I get on a plane and come back to Atlanta at 12:43PM. I have call at 4PM for a 5PM opening of the show tomorrow. Holy traveling Bat Man! But I am glad I have been taking care of my body, because I can feel the difference and it really helps with anything that might be stressful…like trying to be in two places at once. If you are at the NAMM show, come say hey tomorrow morning. If you are in Atlanta, come to the show during the run. It’s all gonna be sweet. Here are the links with the details.

Hello BoomBoom World!  We are embarking to the NAMM Show just about 4 hours up the road in Nashville.  We will be reporting back right here on all of the cool new gear that we’ve seen, and I am SURE that there will be some innovative new products just around the corner.  We’ve got big news here at BoomBoom, but we are going to have to leave you in suspense for about a few more weeks.

In the spirit of the show up in Nashville, I wanted to share with you a really great Q&A session by two of our favorite drummers, Johnny Rabb & Benny Greb.  They recorded this off-the-cuff interview back in January at the Winter NAMM show in Southern California.  Not only are they great drummers that you need to check out if you haven’t already, but they are two of the nicest people you will ever meet.  This clip, along with MANY others are now available @ www.meinlcymbals.com

Jason Mraz. The Real Deal.

Sometimes if you are really lucky, you come across a person in your life who is the real deal. By this I mean that when they talk about love and friendship, they are really living it. It is their mantra, their celebration, their lifeline. Jason Mraz is one of those people, and he is a gift of a friend. If you should be lucky enough to see him perform, you will want so badly to meet him, because he truly is who you believe him to be. Nothing pretentious about this guy. his sense of humor flows from his grounded self just like his effortless vocals that ooze out of his funky ass. Half the time you will see him laugh to himself, as I think he has the gift knowing what joy really is. I admire him for this. All his music is a reflection of the person that he is. So if you are looking for a new record, go grab his new one called “We Sing. We Dance. We Steal Things.” While you are at it, buy everything else he has ever recorded. It is worth every penny. You will be glad you did.

High five Jason. I miss you. I know I will see you soon. Jen

The Vagabonds and My New CD!

The Vagabonds played our Tuesday night show last night. We had a blast. Clay Cook, Gareth Asher, Herb Jones and Nick N. were our special guests and all four guys were a special treat. The energy in the room was warm and sweet and I am still swimming in the love of the night. It’s good to celebrate Atlanta talent. We all play so many shows a year that it is difficult to attend each others’ shows. It is wonderful to reconnect, hear some new tunes and laugh with our good friends. I look forward to next Tuesday where Michelle Malone, Levi Lowery, Wil Turpin, and Jeremy E. will be joining us at the Atlanta Room. 8PM. Other than that, my new record is for sale now. You can find it on my Myspace. I can’t believe it. I am amazed. It feels good. I am having the time of my life.

Yee Haw!

Mraz leads the good stuff

Went to go hang out with the Mraz clan last night at Holy Cross in Mass. I ended up sitting in with the MakePeaceBrothers and with Bushwalla. The show was rock’n. It included Justin Kredible, the comedic magician and of course Bushwalla and the MakePeaceBrothers. Did I already mention that? All parties are worthy of perusal. I highly recommend the vibe they all have to offer. I laughed, I cheered, and I rejoiced with this traveling circus of sorts that made my day. High five dudes. Thanks for the music and letting me be a part.
On to Atlanta to connect with the Vagabonds again. If you have this Sunday open and are in the area. I would love for you to be with us for the journey.

Big deep lovely sigh.
